Mode VI

Devil’s Advocate — Performative opposition

Declared opposition mode: the AI defends the position contrary to yours with solid arguments, not nonsense. Useful before committing to a decision.

I

Devil’s Advocate

Devil’s Advocate is Critic mode applied to a specific position: you state a stance, the AI defends the opposite. The difference with Critic is that here the opposition is performative and bounded — the AI plays advocate of the position you’re not defending, not generic demolisher.

II

Usage examples

Before taking an important decision where your first intuition is already formed. Activating it forces you to confront the best version of the opposing position, not the straw-man your mind builds automatically.

Usage examples

Prompt
«Devil’s Advocate mode. I defend accepting the remote job offer. You defend staying where I am, with data, not nonsense.»
Expected response
Structured defence of the opposite position, citing studies on career stability, in-person support networks and long-term remote friction patterns.
Prompt
«Devil’s Advocate mode. I say this post should not be published. You defend publishing it.»
Expected response
Arguments in favour of publishing: visibility, brand conversation, educational value of the assumed risk. AI accepts counterarguments, doesn’t dismiss them.
III

Contraindicaciones

Don’t activate Devil’s Advocate when the decision is already made and the conversation is just confirmatory (noise). Nor for dialogues where disagreement is not operational.

Trigger phrase

«Defiende lo contrario»

Compatible presets

Critic preset only.

Legal note

Limited risk. Devil’s Advocate is not manipulation: the user knows the AI defends a bounded position and the AI confirms the mode before starting.
